Puppy & Teen Training in Brighton, Hove & East Sussex – 1-to-1 Foundation Programme
Building foundations that last
The first 3-16 weeks shape everything—your puppy's lifelong behaviour and confidence depend hugely on getting those early experiences right. (See free Puppy Primer download below for more detail)
This 5-session in-person positive reinforcement programme covers the essential skills your puppy will need at home and in the outside world, as well as the knowledge you need: reading body language, managing excitement, building confidence.
You'll come away with a puppy who listens, copes well, and enjoys learning—and the confidence to keep that progress going.
How one-to-one puppy training works and why it helps your dog thrive
How it works
Five weekly in-person sessions, tailored to your puppy's learning pace and your household routine. Training happens in your home and local area—building skills that work everywhere.
Why one-to-one?
Different breeds learn at different paces and in different ways. A confident Labrador needs different handling than a cautious Border Terrier. Private sessions mean I can help you understand why your puppy behaves the way they do and train in breed-appropriate ways that work with their natural instincts.

“David has been immensely helpful in training my dog from a puppy. As a new owner with limited experience, our sessions were fun & informative. David has a great way about him and I’m looking forward to continuing maintaining training in the future. Also, being Frenchie, my dog is very stubborn, but made fast progress with David”

-
You can start from the day you bring your puppy home—usually around 8 weeks. Full vaccination isn't necessary to begin. The socialisation window closes at 16 weeks, so earlier is genuinely better.
-
No problem. We'll assess where they are and build from there. Every trainer works differently, so there might be some adjusting, but that's completely normal.
-
You'll have unlimited WhatsApp access throughout the six weeks. If something comes up—toilet training regression, sudden fear of the hoover, whatever—just message. Most issues are easier to fix with quick guidance rather than waiting until the next session.
-
Yes. These are part of the programme, not separate issues. We'll work on them alongside everything else.
-
You'll get recommendations for continuing training, plus a follow-up call a month later to see how things are going. Most people find they have everything they need to keep going independently, but if you want ongoing support, we can discuss options then.

Free survival guide for puppy chaos
The first few weeks with a puppy are equal parts magical and chaotic. You're exhausted, your puppy won't sleep, everything is a chew toy, and you're starting to wonder if you'll ever leave the house again without immediately cleaning up an accident.
This guide covers the early-stage essentials that most new puppy owners struggle with: helping your puppy settle in those first overwhelming nights, getting house training right from the start, making crate training something your puppy actually enjoys, and managing the needle-teeth phase without losing your mind (or your furniture).
It gets easier. You've got this.
